As a Direct Lending Specialist you will provide a wide variety of support services for the direct lending division of the Consumer Lending department. Duties include but are not limited to collecting supporting documentation from members and others, creating loan documents, coordinating loan signings, funding loans, loan processing, loan maintenance and lien perfection. The position performs filing, scanning and other clerical duties. This position also handles requests for information and answers lending questions for members and employees. Responsibilities of this role include: Processes documents and/or forms necessary to perfect the credit union's security interest on funded loans in a timely and efficient manner. Supports the organization's member service and satisfaction objectives. Assists members with a wide variety of transactions, inquiries, complaints and information requests. Works with credit union vendors to verify and monitor insurance coverage on all collateral. Processes Collateral Protection Insurance (CPI) placements and refunds on loans when necessary. Regularly communicates with members and sales staff via software and loan origination system (LOS). Responds to inquiries from members and sales staff regarding required documentation, loan decision, and funding status. Follows up on files as needed. Reviews funding documentation packages for accuracy and completeness. Accurately prepares documents for secured and unsecured loans and credit lines to include credit cards as well as auto, boat, and RV loans. Funds loans, and may sign documents with members.As applicable, prepares documents for additional protection services sold by sales staff. Corrects basic account errors and problems. Assists with other insurance products offered by credit union such as MBP, GAP, and payment protection coverage, including claims and cancellations. Coordinates with sales staff to schedule loan signing appointments on loan funding. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent. Two years' previous experience in a financial institution or similar organization is desired, preferably in a lending role. Knowledge of loan documentation and underwriting criteria for all consumer loan types is a plus. Ability to work with multiple data systems simultaneously. Ability to exercise judgment, initiative and tact in dealing with members, staff, and vendors. Analytical ability to evaluate applicant's credit status and recommend alternatives when appropriate. Must possess excellent basic math skills with a basic understanding of accounting. Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, divide, calculate percentages, fractions, etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent organization, planning and prioritization skills.
