Program Manager, Regional Initiatives (TX)

About the role 

TEACH is seeking a full-time Program Manager to provide partnership and project management, plus programmatic support, for the organization’s expanding portfolio of regional initiatives and related programming. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, creative problem solver committed to advancing educational equity and making an impact on the educator workforce. 

This individual excels at working autonomously and collaboratively on cross-functional projects to make sure deadlines are met and ongoing processes are operating efficiently. They have strong relationship management skills and are experienced in motivating and supporting external stakeholders to take action. They operate with a growth mindset and are interested in expanding their skillset to take on additional responsibilities that meet the evolving needs of an early-stage non-profit organization. 

This individual will oversee our two, existing Texas regional initiatives - TEACH for Houston and TeachDFW - as well as provide support on cross-regional programming. The person who takes this role has an unique opportunity to deepen their work in either partnership or program management, based on their skills, preferences, and the evolving needs of the organization. The Program Manager reports directly to the Director of Programs, Regional Initiatives at TEACH. 

About the organization 

At TEACH, a national nonprofit, we partner with state education agencies, school districts, educator preparation programs, and other like-minded organizations to increase the quantity, quality, and diversity of the next generation of teachers. Our expanding list of partner regions include: Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW), California, Colorado, Connecticut, Houston, Missouri, North Carolina, and South Carolina. 

To accomplish our mission, we provide tools and support that demystify the pathway to becoming a teacher and help aspiring teachers map out their journeys to entering the profession. As part of our mission, we have committed to help increase the number of Black and Latinx applicants to teaching programs in our partner regions. 

Job responsibilities 

Oversee TEACH’s Texas Initiatives 

  • Lead the TEACH for Houston and TeachDFW initiatives, working closely with funders,local supporting partners, and the internal TEACH team to meet the goals andtargets of each initiative.
  • Maintain and advance existing relationships with Education Preparation ProgramPartners (EPPs), Local Education Agency partners (LEAs), and other relevant organizations (e.g, Breakthrough Collaborative) to support them in successfully utilizing TEACH’s resources to meet teacher recruitment goals and build a strong local teacher pipeline. 
  • Source region-specific content for web pages and campaigns, ensuring that all siteinformation is current, relevant and compelling for a variety of audiences.
  • Communicate the value of TEACH to external stakeholders in order to motivate, inspire, and generate buy-in that will help advance our collective work. 
  • Identify and try out new and unique opportunities to expand the impact of TEACH’s work in Texas (e.g. partner with a local after school program on a trial basis). 

Support cross-regional programs 

  • Provide operational support for TEACH’s existing regional program offerings (e.g. career coaching service, scholarships, and other financial incentive programs) and other regional initiatives (e.g. TEACH Connecticut). 
  • Provide project management support for launching new program offerings, program improvement projects, and/or new regional initiatives. 
  • Gather, analyze, report and summarize data and information related to TEACH Regional Initiatives and Programs. 
  • Create and revise documentation related to TEACH Regional Initiatives and Programs. ● Provide other operational, project management, logistics, and administrative support based on the evolving needs of the Regional Initiatives team.

Background & logistics 

  • 5+ years of experience, preferably in the education or ed-tech sector
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Required to be located in Texas, with a preference for the Houston or DFW area
