Position Summary 

The position’s primary purpose is to collaborate with the Educate Texas team to design and deliver evaluation and analysis plans that measure the impact of our efforts, identify key insights for advancing our outcomes, and synthesize findings for internal and external stakeholders. This dynamic position is responsible for oversight of evaluation projects and staff, ongoing data analysis, and presentation of complex information related to educational outcomes in order influence effective systems change. The position is based in Dallas, Texas; successful candidate must reside locally or be willing to relocate. When normal operations resume, candidates must be willing to travel overnight (both in/out of state) up to 10% of the time. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Collaborate with EdTX leadership, staff and partners to identify learning and evaluation priorities and develop tailored learning and evaluation plans for the organization and each program that complement, shape, and support EdTX strategies and goals 
  • Oversee the management and continuous improvement of data resources, analytics systems and reporting platforms that effectively support organizational and programmatic work 
  • Develop and manage project plans, budgets and timelines for multiple, simultaneous analysis and/or evaluation projects; prioritize the work for Insights & Analytics staff and oversee team that executes work 
  • Lead and develop Insights & Analytics staff; co-develop team goals, support effective team dynamics and ensure adherence to professional standards and ethics for evaluation activities 
  • Vet, recommend and manage external evaluators and/or consultants as needed 
  • Partner with program leadership to drive planning and execution of novel and innovative strategies to advance a rigorous learning culture within EdTX o Develop and support structures for organizational learning and evidenced based decision making throughout the organization 

o Build skills and evaluation capacity of EdTX team to make effective use of data/findings 

o Promote organizational values and cultural norms related to learning 

 

  • Monitor trends and developments in state agency data, education research and evaluation methods 
  • Serves as Educate Texas’ representative on both internal and external committees and working groups 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or higher in education, public administration, public policy, public affairs, applied social sciences, psychology, or related field preferred 
  • 5+ years of education-related research or evaluation experience or 7+ years of experience in a related but non-education focused field 

 

Skills & Requirements 

  • Ability to think critically and strategically, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative data using advanced techniques in statistical analysis, coding/categorization, etc. as applicable 
  • Strong project management experience and proven experience managing diverse teams to effectively meet deliverables on time 
  • Strong interpersonal skills, instinctive customer service and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams 
  • Proficient or expert skills using PowerPoint, Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook, Power BI 
  • Detail-oriented, self-starter with strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects  
  • Ability to design and implement evaluation projects and demonstrated success using evaluation findings to inform decision making in academic/community/business settings 
  • Demonstrated communication skills, both written and verbal, with experience communicating technical information and complex research findings to non-technical audiences across multiple modes; presentations, data visualizations, evaluation reports, and/or briefs 
  • Knowledge of data governance and FERPA, preferred 
  • Ideal candidate will be driven by a passion for excellence and opportunity in education and will preferably bring experience working directly in Texas education and/or workforce data 
  • Valid state issued driver’s license
