MISSION: The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will improve outcomes for all public-school students in the state by providing leadership, guidance, and support to school systems. POSITION OVERVIEW: The Chief School Finance Officer/Associate Commissioner reports to the Deputy Commissioner of Finance and has direct oversight over the State Funding, Financial Compliance, and Forecasting & Fiscal Analysis Divisions. The position provides statewide leadership over the school finance system, operations, monitoring, and reporting; and advising TEA leadership on school finance and fiscal matters. The position supports the preparation of agency financial documents, presentations, and other documents such as the Legislative Appropriations Request; and ensures school district and charter school financial accountability through the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST) and related enforcement.
